March 20, 2012- Letter

Dear Mom and Dad,

Okay, lets start with your question about service. I talked to the YW president here, and she said that one of the things that would help the most is just letters. They are trying to help the girls see that there are people all over the world, their age, who live the same standards. In terms of things that they need, nothing here immediatly comes to mind. We have a lot more "fun" church things in Utah than what they have, like stickers, fun paper, etc. They really only have the basics. So if there is any of that stuff in Spanish, I know that they would love that. In terms of the pen pal thing, there are a couple of girls, and ward members that speak English, but I know it would make a big difference to the girls if they could see that there was an effort to write some things to them in Spanish.

It is really really weird to think that there is still snow. Although it has been colder the last couple of days. So a little easier to imagine now than even a week ago. I am really jealous. I know that most of you are probably hoping that the snow will go away, but enjoy the fact that you have it. I really really miss it.

I am writing a week late because yesterday we had Zone Conference. It went really really well. I love Zone Conferences because it is basically us listening to Presidente Detlefsen for a couple of hours. And I have to admit that I really enjoy listening to that man. He is very very inspired, and he knows the right amount of "okay, what can you be doing better" and "look at all of the good things that you are doing." I always leave ready to work and forget all of the negative things that have happened.

In the last week, we were actually able to do divisiones twice, and that was really great. The members are getting more and more excited about working with us and giving us references. We are very very optimistic that that is going to help us have more success, and quickly. We are starting to find more investigators, and really, that is a blessing. In the last couple of months, that has been really difficult, and It is relieving to see that we can still find here in Puerto. Which, obviously, we knew, we just hadn´t been succeeding at.

Sandra came to church for the second time, and that was really exciting. We just have to get her married Sergio, and then she will be able to get baptized! We are having the Law of Chastity talk with them on Friday, and I´m a little apprehensive. Not doubting, I´ve seen miracles with that lesson, its just one of the make it or bread it lessons, and the stress is always on to teach it exactly with the Spirit, so that they can feel it, and not just learn it.

I am getting really really excited for General Conference, it seems as if it always comes at the perfect time. And, I will be able to watch in English this time! Of course, now I will be choosing to watch one or two sessions in Spanish, ironic, no? However, I am really really excited, and I look forward to hearing what is it that I need to learn.

To my lovely siblings:
You are already done with third term?! That is so crazy. Just think, you only have one more left until summer vacation. (Less if you are Kami) Holly, I hope that you have a good time at dance tour! All my friends who went LOVED IT! And I am very confidant that you will likewise have a good time. Summer, I sure hope you feel better baby girl. (Do we still call you that?) It is no fun to be sick. But I am jealous that you get to go to the general YW session with Kami. I always thought that I would go with you to your first one, but I will be content with the second. Zac, let me know how things go with Prom, and choir tryouts, I am sure praying for you (and Holly with her cheer tryouts). Kami..I just sent you and email, but I hope that you have a really good time in San Fansicso! When does the semster end?

The pictures are of zone conference! Yesterday. The first one is my district. Right now we are super small. Elder Galan, Elder Forbes, me and Hna Vawdrey. The next one is Hna Vawdrey and I and Hna Detlefsen. I love love love that woman. The other one is us Hermanas from Puerto and the Hnas from Centro. We are the only Hnas up North, all the other Hnas are either in Bahia or Viedma (go SOA). And also of my scripture covers that came! I am very very happy with them, that is for sure.

I feel like this is probably a really boring letter. And I am sorry about that. Hopfully next week will be more exciting. Hopefully for now it will suffice it to say that I know that the Church is true, and that I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have to share what is most precious to me. There is hardly anything more wonderful than to watch the Gospel start to change someones life. You should try it sometime. It´s totally worth it. I love you!!!

Corinne

PS A week from today I turn 23. How weird is that?!
