March 5, 2012- Letter

Dear Mom and Dad!

I am so glad that you went to Las Vegas after all! I knew, or at least, I felt that it was a good idea for the two of you to get away. Have you really been going for ten years? It seems like so much less than that. Of course, its probably because I wasn´t taking care of the kids for all ten years. But do you remember what I would always say when you would get home? "Add on another 2 years before I have my kids." So right now I´ll probably be about 30 or 32 before I start my family. How quiet my next 7-9 years are going to be.

This week was really good. One of the main events is that on Friday I celebrated my one year mark in the mission! I know that Elders usually burn a tie or a suit or a companion, but I decided against that. As I had recieved my Valentines Day package, Hna Vawdrey and I celebrated with Peanut Butter and Oreos! We also went to San Marinos, which is the best Ice Cream I have had in all of Argentina. The first couple of picture are of that night, when we finally sat down to eat our "dinner" (We don´t normally eat much of anything at night). Hna Vawdrey had made me a cute little card! She is so great! It is really crazy that a year has already passed. I don´t know if I feel like it has been a whole year. The time really is passing so quickly!

We did find one new investigator this week. And he is potentially the cutest investigator that I have had to date on my mission. His name is Tomas, and he is 8. And I love him. His grandma is member of our ward, and he has gone to chuch a number of times with his Grandma. So we finally asked if we could start teaching him, as he is of baptism age. The only hiccup is this. His parents won´t talk to us. They talk to the grandma who talks to us. At first they said that it was Tomas´ decision what he wanted to do. But apparently we are moving too fast. So the primary teacher of Tomas, who knows his mother (who is named Vanesa) is going to talk to Vansea to see if she can help her be more comfortable, at least so she can talk to us. And then we´ll see what we can do. Please pray that they will soften up. Tomas already has such a strong testimony, and he has such a strong desire to get baptized, but the poor kid is 8 and can´t do much about that on his own right now.

We have been having our new ward missionaries go with us to a couple of lessons, and man are they cute. They are all nervous and don´t know what to say, and avoid making eye contact with me since they know that I will ask them to explain something. They do so great though! They want so badly to do a good job. And they do! Now it is just a matter of getting them to believe me when I tell them that. Here´s hoping they start too.

As I have mentioned a couple of times, we have had a hard time finding new investigators. So our district leader and his companion, and our zone leaders, (some of the best zone leaders I have had) came to our area to work for a little while. They had basically the same experience that we have had everyday. The good news is, we aren´t the only ones who struggle finding here. Also that I no longer feel as if they are judging me when we aren´t finding like we want to be finding. The bad news is that we still didn´t get any new investigators.

The really good news about this week is that we have been able to find a lot of the recent converts of last year that have just kind of dropped off the face of the planet. We found 8. We have been looking for so long for them! It was such a relief to finally find them! Some of them we haven´t seen the whole time that I have been here! But we finally found them! And we have return lessons with many of them! So that is great! We are hoping that we will be able to help get them back to church!

I am also sending a picture of the sunrises that I have been seeing lately. Talk about completely gorgeous. I don´t know how some people can look at things like this and not believe in God.

Also inclosed (embarrassing though it is) is a picture of my feet. Probably the only one you will ever get, so don´t get too excited. My tan lines have faded a lot a lot, but I thought that you might like to see them.

There is also a picture of Hna Vawdrey and I with some of our fun Valentine´s day items! We had some fun with them. Okay fine. We haven´t actually done anything with them yet, we just took the picture so we could send it to you and her family. But we will have a good time with them tonight!!!!

As my jelly shoes are the only shoes that I actually have intact right now, we are going to try to go shopping next Pday to get some. I will have to take money out to do so. So you can watch for that. I really have no idea how much a decent pair of shoes is going to cost, but we are going to try to go to Centro that way we have a better chance of getting a good deal.

Other than that I really don't think there is too much going on. But if I think of something, I will write it down so that I can tell you next week. Hopefully next week I will be able to give you an idea of something that you can do for my wonderful Barrio Puerto!

I sure love you and am glad that you are having a good time in Vegas!!!

Corinne
