Dear Mom and Dad,
This week was really good! Thins are going so great with Hermana McWhorter! At the very beginning things were a little rough because she had come from another mission, and was used to the rhythm there, and because I was new at training, but things are going so much better now. We have become very good friends, and she has already asked me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding. So from my point of view I would say that this companionship is a success.
We didn´t have any investigators in church yesterday which was a little sad. Actually, a lot sad. But, we did have 35 people at chruch, which is easily the most we have had in SAO in my entire time here. People continue to do well here. Maxi, (Cristians son, who got baptized on Oct 15) will be getting the Aaronic Priesthood next week, and I am very excited for that.
We are also teaching a part member family. La Familia Brai. The parents are members, and they have been sealed, but just a couple of weeks after they were sealed, their new baby passed away, and they fell inactive. Hermana Salas and I would visit them from time to time, but they weren´t really that interested in returning. Hermana McWhorter and I passed by and asked if we could teach thier daughters, (Belen 13, Ludmila 10, Rocio 6). And they said yes! So we have been teaching them for about a week and a half. They are progressing well, the only problem at this point in time is that Belen and Lumila aren´t sure how they feel about baptism. They both enjoy reading and praying, and they enjoy church, they just havne´t quite made up thier minds yet. So we are going to see what we can do to help them feel excited to take this step in their lives.
We are teaching a couple of other people. But at this point, the daughters of the Flia Brai are the only investigators that we have that are really progressing. Oh how I love this family. We are so excited to help them become an eternal family. They really are so much closer than they know.
Hermana McWhorter entered the MTC in August. She was in the MTC for 3 weeks instead of 9 because she already knew a good amount of Spanish. So after three weeks, they sent her to the St George Visitors Center to wait for her visa. She was there for nine weeks, and arrived in our mission two days after the others in her original district in the MTC. She is doing so great! And I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have had to be her companion.
We have not seen any more bats. The other hermanas do know about them as I felt that it was my duty to let them know about the visitors that they may have at night. Thank the heavens that we haven´t had any other apperances, but we do hear them at least two times a day.
Running is going better than I thought that it would. The good news is that I no longer feel like cutting out my lungs when we are running. I am adapting better than I anticipated. And I can feel a little (but keep in mind, just a little. Tiny really) difference when those days that we don´t do our running, or the days when we don´t have as much time to run. Hna McWhorter is telling me that I am going to be and I quote "a running machine" at the end of my mission. I told her not to get to excited. So we´ll see what happens.
We did not change our clocks. I actually forgot that that was a normal thing to do. No wonder it has been so bright outside all the time. We go to sleep and it is still decently light. We wake up and it is light light. Thank goodness for the curtains we have, because without them I wouln´t sleep at all. I really did forget that we change our clocks. I feel a little silly now. Huh. That explains alot.
Is any of the construction going on with the new temple. I am sure that nothing exciting has happened yet, but I am just so curious for news. Have the grounds been dedicated? Will they do any construction during the winter or will they wait until spring.
I did complete 8 months in the mission last week. That was kind of weird. In a couple of weeks I will hit my official halfway mark. And Presidente will ask what I am thinking about when I will be going home. As an Hermana I have a little bit of liberty, since our exact 18 month mark hits in the middle of a transfer. So this is my question, what is my opinion? Aka, what is your opinion? Do you think that school in the fall is a possiblity for me? I just don´t know. I will be prayerfully considering that this week as I know he will be asking soon, and I should have some sort of a reasonable answer.
I still have yet to see the last package. I am not sure if I want to give up hope yet or if it is just taking a long time to get here. I will be sending yours home soon. I´m guessing next week, or in two weeks. I know it is a little early, but I would rather be safe than sorry.
Also, I think that next week I am going to have to take out some money. I am going to try to learn about how much it will be to send a package home and what the best way to do that will be. We have district meeting tomorrow, so I will talk to some of the Elders who have been here for more time and get their opinions.
I think thats about the only thing of interest going on. Please keep the Brai Family in your prayers. They are going to need a little bit of help to get themselves officially on the right track. They are getting close, they have invited us over for dinner a couple of times, and they constantly want us in their home. I hope that we can help them, and get them where they need to be!
Thank you for everything, and especially your prayers! I love you so much!!!
